The Break-up Jam
Pajiba is having a comment diversion about the best break-up songs. What do you listen to alone in your DKNY sleepwear pining over love lost? Some readers are really pouring their heart out over there. When I think of high school, anything by The Cure really does the job. But especially, “Pictures of You”, that one still kinda turns the knife in my heart.
Anything by New Order, U2, or Depeche Mode comes in a close second. Remember your break-up while watching this vintage U2 video.
It makes me sad just remembering all this. Where’s my pint of bluebell ice cream when I need it?

Can I Be Your Woman?
Check out this trailer for the new romantic comedy from Amy Heckerling. It really goes for the cheap laughs, but I think Paul Rudd looks cute in it.
The funniest bit is when he answers the phone while on top of Michelle Pfieffer, who looks cute in whatever she wears, including that cute sleepwear outfit. I want to look as good as she does in her forties. David E. Kelley is a lucky duck. When he lies down on their tempur pedic matttress topper, he should think how lucky he really is to have such a good life. Even if his newest show, “Wedding Bells” got the can.

Nouvelle Star
There are so many “Idol” spin-offs, but my new favorite is “Nouvelle Star” in France. Julien is a talented singer, and if you watch the clip, really makes the girls go wild with his rendition of “Like a Virgin”. I’m not sure if the show is made with a Hd camcorder, or the person uploading the video didn’t compress the information very well. But I’ll take what I can get. If I was in Paris, I’d be one of those crazy fans standing outside the studio waiting for them to come out. I’d wait patiently with my
Hv 10 camcorder to capture my own little movie. Now that would be an adventure.
I wonder if that’s how the audience for American Idol feel when meeting the contestants. I can’t get into the American version, just pure slop. Simon is great, only because he’s so mean. Still, he doesn’t have any say, America still allowed Sanjaya to win week after week despite his protests.

British Camcorders
Just like with dvds and vhs, there are region specific cameras. In Englands they have PAL camcorders, like this panasonic nv digital camcorder.

Essentially, mini-dv footage made with a PAL camcorder is not compatible with American televisions. The camcorder must be PAL so that it can used for playback with a PAL format TV or dual-system TV. So the DVD camcorders, Mini DV PAL analog and digital camcorders can all be used on European displays. Why they haven’t made a universal system is beyond me? I’m so over it ever since I bought a regionless dvd player. I’m in heaven.
I wonder if there are region-less camcorders. I’m not sure if that is possible. But you can buy a converter for American tvs to play PAL tapes, so that might be a way around this system. Still sounds that lots of extra work. And in the long run, these restrictions make more money for Sony and the other companies.

Agility
If you actually used a video camera, you understand that you need to be free to move with the camera. A sony camcorder power cord is somewhat of a hindrance when you’re shooting. You don’t see cameramen running around with a bunch cords hanging out from the camera. First of all, it can be a hazard to your actors. And secondly, it limits your shooting field.
My friend did have to use her power cord extension when her battery died. It sucked. Basically, she considered the camera a total loss after that since buying a new battery was a price of another camera!
You can have the option of filming using a wall outlet. But 99% of the time, you use the battery pack.
