400 episodes!

This season’s “The Simpsons” finale on Sunday marks their 400th episode. Can you believe it?!

That is a lot of drawings. I think the technology of the animation has come a long way since episode one. It’s not as difficult for them to produce an episode. Still, it is a lot of work, which some people don’t care to realize. They’re too busy installing their new Bose 3 2 1, or some other home audio component to understand how far the show has come. I mean you can see a huge difference between season one and now (especially the pilot…bizarro simpsons almost).

She’s free?

I was very underwhelmed by the “Grey’s Anatomy” finale last night. I even stayed up after hitting the bars to watch it. I wish I had just waited and gone to sleep instead. Granted, it had its moments but the previous week’s episode was much better. I liked all the minor characters’ emotional arcs. But Mer/Derek and Burke/Christina…zzzz. I just didn’t get the ending at all when she’s crying and tearing off her wedding dress. I didn’t really understan who the hell this Christina was or how she was supposed to be acting in this episode. Maybe that’s what they were going for, but I definitely was not entertained by it.

Season 3 just can’t live up to season 2 because Meredith was finally with McDreamy. There was no more tension, so now they’ve gotta bring back that whole are they together/are they not dynamic to get the story moving again. I stopped caring about certain characters, which is a bad sign. Plus, tons of stuff was just swept under the rug for next season like the whole George, Callie, Izzie love triangle. And that whole running for chief business was just a joke, since Richard’s gonna stay anyway.

I just can’t keep up with it, but oddly, I’m kinda psyched about the spin-off. I loved Merrin Dungey as Francie on “Alias”, and you know that Taye Diggs is just a really sweet bonus. I can imagine myself leaning back in a home theater chair and really enjoying this show. It’s way more upbeat than the original “Grey’s Anatomy”. I welcome the change, despite the ridiculousness of “Grey’s Anatomy” even warranting a spin-off.

The Long sucky Friday

Paul W S Anderson is responsible for Resident Evil and Mortal Kombat, the movies. Why on earth would they let him remake a gangster movie?! Apparently, it’s too late. Handmade Films, a production company, has already announced that he’ll be directing a remake of The Long Good Friday. Shooting starts next year in Miami.

The original film starred a younger Bob Hoskins (as a ganster, it was awesome) from 1980. I hate to think of how they’re going to mess this movie up. It was perfect. The bombings and the final gritty shoot out were really something to remember. They show it in film classes (which I bet is awesome even if it’s with a dvd home theater system). Plus, Helen Mirren was a babe (and still is btw).

Mirren in Long Good Friday

I think she’s the epitomy of classy hotness. No reason to get slutty. I know that Maxim says Lindsay is the sexiest this year. But I recommend she take a page from Helen’s book and cover it up once in awhile.

I want a Transformer

I just watched the new, extended trailer for Transformers. The trailer worked on me, since I am almost excited for it. That movie is gonna be excellent when viewed in state of the art home theatres. If you have a wireless speaker system, it’s super easy to hook up one of those theater systems for your home. I wonder if this movie will be nominated for something. That’d be a laugh, but the sound cutting is kinda awesome.

But y’know what, this new trailer made it look sorta like Independence Day. It had the whole, let’s band together against earth invaders kinda thing. I see similariites between Tyrese in the desert battling robots to Will Smith punching out that alien after his plane goes down in the desert. And do my eyes deceive me, but are they wearing the same color fatigues? What’s up with that?

I’m guessing the script won’t be nominated for best adapted screenplay (most action movies aren’t anyway). At least, I know stuff blows up and not to expect much after that.

Goodbye Jordan

It’s that time of year again: some shows get the cut and others don’t. Cliffhangers, deaths, marriages and more start popping up all over the place. C’mon “Grey’s Anatomy”! What the hell are you doing ending the last episode with someone bleeding out in a bathroom? This isn’t “ER” for crissakes.

The TV Whore has some really good coverage of the upfronts and season finales. I was shocked to learn that this week’s “Crossing Jordan” is the last ever! I had just started watching it again, sorta a sucker for forensic crime dramas. And Jordan’s dad was so great every time he’d say her name with that Boston accent, “Jawdin”. My buddy Justin and I just keel over in a fit of laughter every time. I guess I’ll have to buy the dvd to get my fix. Maybe spice it up by buying a home theater box to enjoy his accent in all its glory in surround sound.
