Monster Squad on DVD!
I am a huge fan of The Monster Squad, written by Shane Black (Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang & Lethal Weapon). It’s been out of print on vhs for years. My friend scoured ebay to buy a cheap taped vhs copy. We’re that into it. It’s Stephen Dorff’s best work to date. And who doesn’t love a movie that has werewolves, vampires, AND mummies. It was a triple threat!

It hits the shelves on July 24th with shiny 20th anniversary addition packaging. It would be great if I could find some to watch it with who has a Divinci surround system. Home theaters are becoming more popular everyday. There’s gotta be someone out there I know who loves this movie as much as I do.

Jacob is scary
That episode of “Lost” is still perplexing me. Who the hell is Jacob and why can’t we see him?! I still half think he’s a manifestation of Ben’s mind, ala telekinesis. But one of those crazy fans with a home theater system hdmi did a screenshot of the outline of Jacob. So I guess he’s real or something.
I just demand answers, and now I feel the show has turned a corner with this Jacob and all the back history of the island stuff. The season finale will definitely be a cliffhanger. What are all the “Lost” obsessed viewers going to do until the show returns in February 2008? On the wiki, they say extended episodes will run during the summer. And I’m sure the dvd won’t come out until at least August. I hope they can take up an outdoor activity or another show in the meantime. 2010 can’t come fast enough with those answers.

Bionic Women
The buzz for NBC’s new show, “Bionic Woman”, is already off and running. Katee Sakoff from BSG plays the villain, that might be enough for me to watch. I just don’t know if Michelle Ryan, the main character, can pull off being tough. Either way, I’m sure the show will be pretty cool to watch with a Nakamichi or JVC home theater system.

They have like a 5 minute preview on their website of all their fall programming. Guess you gotta get people excited any way you can.

But the audio system was jammin’
As I was watching a friend’s band at the bowling alley (in the bar), I noticed they had a Denon S101 audio system hooked up. I thought that was a bit fancy for a dive bar inside a bowling alley. Usually they just watch sports on the television, not really hosting live music all that often.
I guess you gotta have decent home theater speakers to blast the sound over the bowling and carousing at the bar. Bowling alleys have some characters. I love The Big Lebowski, there’s just something about die-hard bowlers.

TV Space Savers
I think I might be officially fed up with my standard, CRT television. I was perusing a home theater review today that got me feeling like I was living in the dark ages. I certainly can’t afford anything crazy expensive like a panasonic home theater projector, but I’ve seen some affordable set-ups.
I just can’t stop buying dvds (like The Fountain, which comes out tomorrow) so it’s hard to think about saving for a new television system. Most of the time, I would rather get a camcorder so I can go out and be creative. Gotta think about which purchase is more feasible I suppose. But these flat screen tv commericals are really starting to make me feel bad.
Check this cool one for the Sony Bravia TV:
