DVD Pick of the Week: ‘Short Circuit’

A Short Circuit special edition dvd was released today.

Short Circuit: Special Edition

It stars the loveable Jonny 5, Ally Sheedy, Steve Guttenberg, and Fisher Stevens.

Ah, how I love Fisher Stevens character in that movie (remember him playing an quasi-Indian guy?). Why did they kill you off on “Lost” so quickly? Clearly, they must have forgotten that you do accents.

I guarantee that if you watch this clip, you’ll understand why the world desperately needs a special edition tribute to Jonny #5.

T6: Terminator Trilogy x 2

Seriously? There are going to be three more ‘Terminator’ films with Christian Bale?

Terminator

I’m already skeptical about Terminator 4, so I think it’s quite presumptious of them to start another trilogy. T3 wasn’t all that highly regard nor has the tv show really taken off.

Hasn’t Hollywood learned anything from the Star Wars prequels? Oversaturation is imminent and will eventually damage your profits.

Narnia battles to first place

Despite the lukewarm reviews, Prince Caspian was first place at the box office with 56 million. I’ve decided to wait it out and see it at the discount theater.

Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

Iron Man still cleaning up at second place with 31 million, while Speed Racer came in fourth place with only 7.6 million, proving it’s not destined to win the summer box office race.

Forever Seventeen: ‘Twilight’

I hadn’t heard of the Twilight YA book series until recently. Apparently, the tween demographic loves them. The books tell the age old tale of forbidden love between a teenage girl (Kristen Stewart) and a vampire (Robert Pattinson). Crazily, the author claims ignorance of the blatant Buffy/Angel rip-off.

Thus, since these books did enormously well, the studio is hyping the crap out of this Twilight movie (even though the film doesn’t come out until December!). I know this post isn’t helping deter the hype, but Cedric Diggory’s in it!

Cannes 2008

Indie and big budget films alike premiered today at the distinguished Cannes Festival, including the new Indiana Jones film.

Alas, most of the buzz is about the ever radiant (and pregnant) Angelina Jolie.

Angelina Jolie - April 2008

She attended the festival to support Kung Fu Panda and Clint Eastwood’s Changeling. I’m amazed at how much work this woman does whether acting or crusading for the UN. Perhaps, she’s trying to do all the press now before those twins arrive. Sheesh, six kids? Lucky she’s rich enough to take care of her international brood.

Another highly anticipated movie at the fest is the premiere of Fernando Meirelles’ film, Blindness, starring Julianne Moore, Alice Braga, and Mark Ruffalo.

Cannes Fashion sidenote: How awesome did Cate Blanchett look at the premiere? She looks fabulous despite just having a baby four weeks ago. These actresses make losing baby weight so easy…
