Live Action Cowboy Bebop? Please No.

“Cowboy Bebop” was one of my first Adult Swim cartoon addictions. I’ve seen every episode and love watching them when AS shows them every now and again. Seeing how it’s one of my favorites, I’m not exactly thrilled that Fox may be developing a live action remake.

Cowboy Bebop: The Movie

I understand that other anime remakes are in production and Cowboy Bebop: The Movie (cartoon version that is) did well, so I suppose it sounds like a viable proposition. But maybe we should wait to see if Leonardo DiCaprio’s Akira goes over well first? Though even then, I still rather them just put out another anime movie.

X-Files: I Want to Believe…it will be good.

I’m finally getting pumped for X-Files: I Want to Believe now that the ruckus for Batman has died down. Scully and Mulder together again. Le sigh.

X-Files: I Want to Believe

It should be quite interesting how they explain how Mulder and Scully resurface, especially seeing how they went into hiding after Mulder broke out of prison to escape the DEATH PENALTY!

It so weird that they don’t even address it in the trailer. Instead, we’ve got all these melodramatic shots of Scully trying to talk Mulder down (”You can’t save your sister, Mulder!”) and that old man searching for “aliens” in the woods. But I suppose, the less we know the better, so when we see the finished product nothing will be spoiled.

Find some stills from the movie on Metromix LA to whet your pallette.

And while you’re at it, why not brush up with the dvd box set of essential episodes handpicked by creator Chris Carter called X-Files: Revelations.

3 McConaugheys & A Baby

FunnyorDie.com has been putting out some pretty consistent material. And the quality of the editing, graphics and footage has improved greatly.

Check out this FOD original:

See more funny videos at Funny or Die

That’s a solid parody of Three Men and a Baby and the McConaughey. The shirtless one really has the accent and gestures down. I wonder if the original McConaughey would find this funny? For some reason, I bet he would. He’d just give ‘em an “Alright, Alright” and laugh it off.

This great video was put together with original footage shot on just a HDV camcorder. And by using FOD as a distribution source, millions of people get to laugh at what these guys put together on compact camcorder.

The Mummy 3: Chinese Mummies

Brendan Fraser is back on board for the third Mummy flick despite the absence of Rachel Weisz, who played Evie in the previous two films. I cannot believe it’s been seven years since the last one. At least you can’t say they rushed into anything.

Still, at first glance, the idea of a mummy tale set in China is a bit of a stretch. Have no idea what I’m referring to? Then, you need to watch the trailer below and see these Chinese mummies for yourself.

Trailer Check:

See? Crazy, right? There’s so much going on in that trailer. I know you have to get creative sometimes, but this premise is something I’d expect from the creators of WarBirds or some other SciFi Channel production. Michelle Yeoh conjures up some ancient army of Chinese zombies that have just hanging out under the Great Wall of China. Then you got Jet Li’s dragon emperor riding that red-eyed horse everywhere. Not to mention, adventurer/mummy killer Rick O’Connell is now supposed to have a grown up son (all while merely aging only thirteen years since the last movie)!

Rick & Alex O'Connell

But who am I kidding? I’m totally gonna see it like the sucker that I am, since I’ve seen the first movie like 5000 times (Don’t ask why.). Obviously, I’m not gonna have my expectations up too high. Like Fraser said during his TCA interview: “Folks, it’s a movie. Relax.” I’m gonna just watch and see what happens.

Terminator Salvation: The End Begins

The Terminator Salvation trailer is finally available online (you can also see it before The Dark Knight).

It looks pretty darn good, considering that they have just begun shooting. It’s just that tagline, “The End Begins”. It has got to go. I get why they used it, but it’s seriously a total oxymoron. It makes the movie sound overly simplistic. But I suppose that’s what taglines and trailers go for: the lowest common denominator.

All that is irrelevant tho. Because if Christian Bale is in it, I’ll be there front and center (as I’m sure many people agree).

Christian Bale

Here’s hoping the world doesn’t tire of the Terminator mythology before “The Sarah Connor Chronicles” returns to television this fall and this movie hits theaters.
