Hitachi Releases First Blu-ray/DVD Hybrid Camcorder

Hitachi DZ-DB70A camcorder

Hitachi camcorders seem to be leaping ahead of their competitors with the world’s first Blu-ray/DVD hybrid HD camcorder. The Hitachi DZ-DB70A single drive camcorder can record up to an hour of HD video on a standard Blu-ray disc.

The hybrid camcorder includes CMOS image sensing technology which allows for recording HD video at 1920 x 1080/60 Hz, and digital photos at 2400 x 1800 pixels. With efficient handling of data-rich video files, this feature also reduces noise, and improves color quality.

The new Hitachi camcorder has a quick-access navigation menu for quickly pulling up selected video scenes, and you can create a still photo from any video frame. There’s also an SD card slot for storing still photos. In case you want to add this one to your Santa List, the Hitachi DZ-DB70A is priced at $1,499.
