Dual Digital
Most digital cameras are equipped with camcorder technology and vice versa. There are even camcorders with a built in MP3 players like this DXG 3.3MP digital camcorder! Who is gonna listen to music while filming a scene? I wanna see those videos. Maybe it’s good for the real low budget video, like just for your myspace page or what have you. You could get really ghetto and play a mp3 and tape yourself singing to it karaoke style. Take that American Idol and go with it! It would be a good way to take video submissions and still only hear the singer’s voice.
But seriously, most digital camcorders can make mpeg4 videos. It doesn’t stand up to the quality of miniDV, but it’s something. Good for concert footage like this from Coachell 2006:
On the other side of the fence, there are camcorders that allow you to take digital photos. Doesn’t it seem a bit excessive? I guess if you have the capability why not use it. Still, in my mind, I’ve got my digital camera for still photography and framing up a shot. And then there’s the camcorder to capture life and an entire scene playing out before your eyes. It’s completely separate uses for me. Digital technology is just bringing the two together. These worlds are simply colliding. And I’m just trying to catch up with the movement!
