X-Files: I Want to Believe…it will be good.
I’m finally getting pumped for X-Files: I Want to Believe now that the ruckus for Batman has died down. Scully and Mulder together again. Le sigh.
It should be quite interesting how they explain how Mulder and Scully resurface, especially seeing how they went into hiding after Mulder broke out of prison to escape the DEATH PENALTY!
It so weird that they don’t even address it in the trailer. Instead, we’ve got all these melodramatic shots of Scully trying to talk Mulder down (”You can’t save your sister, Mulder!”) and that old man searching for “aliens” in the woods. But I suppose, the less we know the better, so when we see the finished product nothing will be spoiled.
Find some stills from the movie on Metromix LA to whet your pallette.
And while you’re at it, why not brush up with the dvd box set of essential episodes handpicked by creator Chris Carter called X-Files: Revelations.

Terminator Salvation: The End Begins
The Terminator Salvation trailer is finally available online (you can also see it before The Dark Knight).
It looks pretty darn good, considering that they have just begun shooting. It’s just that tagline, “The End Begins”. It has got to go. I get why they used it, but it’s seriously a total oxymoron. It makes the movie sound overly simplistic. But I suppose that’s what taglines and trailers go for: the lowest common denominator.
All that is irrelevant tho. Because if Christian Bale is in it, I’ll be there front and center (as I’m sure many people agree).
Here’s hoping the world doesn’t tire of the Terminator mythology before “The Sarah Connor Chronicles” returns to television this fall and this movie hits theaters.

Watchmen
The trailer for Watchmen hit the interwebs this week. You can find it on Trailer Addict.

I dunno, Zach Snyder has been a little hit or miss with me. I loved Dawn of the Dead, but hated 300. I love that he brought tension to DotD without making it a gorefest. But with 300, it was meandering and ultimately pointless. The slo-mo effect was cool at first, but it grew old on me very fast.
Nevertheless, I’m a quite intrigued by this trailer (altho, wasn’t the body exploding motif kinda repetitve?), since I am not familiar with the Watchmen graphic novel. This movie has been in production for over a year, so I’m thinking it’s all gonna be down to the effects. And since I’m sure they’re using something a bit more high tech than a sony hd camcorder, I’m sure the long wait is justified. And at least, Snyder has been releasing some nice tidbits on his video journals.
Watchmen arrives in theaters on March 6, 2009.

Outlander
Jim Caviezel is back on the scene with the action adventure, Outlander. as crash-landing alien (aka Outlander) who teams up with vikings (!) to battle an alien monster called Moorwen.
Trailer Check:
After the disappointment of AVP 2, I’m not sure if I’m ready for another alien flick, even if it’s depicted during the times of the Vikings.

DVD Release of the Week: Batman - Gotham Knight
My dvd pick for this week is Batman: Gotham Knight, the animated movie that connects the dots between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. It’s sorta like what they did with the Animatrix, where different anime directors collaborate. David Goyer, one of the TDK screenwriters, also worked with various writers.
There is a no frills single disc and a 2-disc version, which contains extras about “Batman: The Animated Series”. I’m a big fan of the cartoon, so I’m definitely gonna go for the special edition.
Not like we need more hype, but I really do think these anime setup movies are a really cool idea. I know there are graphic novels and comics that I can look to for extra info. But I’m lazy and prefer to have everything summed up in a nice cartoon movie bow.
See a preview of the Batman:Gothic Knight here.
