I wanna watch ‘Footloose’ with the Bacon
Feast your eyes on the infomercial for ‘The Kevin Bacon Movie Club’:
This parody video is hilarious! Being a film major, I kill at six degrees of Kevin Bacon. Try and connect and the Bacon to Elizabeth Banks.
Kevin Bacon to Kathryn Erbe in Stir of Echoes, Kathryn Erbe to Vincent D’onofrio in “Law & Order: CI”, Vincent D’onofrio to Jennifer Aniston in The Break-Up, Aniston to Steve Carell in Bruce Almighty, Steve Carell to Elizabeth Banks in The 40-Year Old Virgin!.
Lemme check the Kevin Bacon six degrees generator’s answer….
Dang IMDB, that’s cheating! I have no idea who the heck Steve Eastin is?
I wonder if Bacon plays that game and is really good at it? From the looks of that Funny or Die video, maybe it would be better to play him when he’s in a good mood from drinking a six-pack.

Political Protests: Camcorders can capture history
I read that there were a few arrests at the mostly peaceful prop 8 protests in California this week. The gay and lesbian community held protests in West Hollywood, by the Hollywood CNN building, and at the Mormon Church. The protesters started on the sidewalk but the crowd grew and the police ended up having to stop traffic to accomodate the protest!
These protests (as well as other culturally significant political events) are usually caught on video by news station professional camcorders. But footage by participants or bystanders on consumer camcorders can also prove to be just as valuable and worth watching. And apparently, even the cops take video or snap a digital photograph before arresting protesters to justify the arrest! I guess that makes sense since this is hot legal issue and California is an extremely litigious state.
Find photos of a protester (who wasn’t arrested by the way) jumping on top of a cop car last Wednesday night on KTLA.

Netflix knows what’s up!
Netflix just upgraded their “Watch Instantly” feature to work with Mac computers! All you have to do is download some Microsoft silverlight thingymajig.
This has made my day! Now I can watch those foreign films I never got around to watching like The Orphanage or La Vie en Rose with Oscar winner Marion Cotillard. I know I could have watched them before on dvd, but have you seen my queue? It’s constantly around 419 movies! With this new feature at my fingertips, perhaps I can make a sizable dent on my queue since I won’t have to wait for the pesky mailman.
Plus, who doesn’t love instant gratification?

McCain should go with John Woo
I just thought I share this hilarious parody video posing the idea of Hollywood directors making a McCain attack ad. They do ads done in the style of John Woo, Kevin Smith, and Wes Anderson.
I think the John Woo one is the most ridiculous and hilarious. It looks like they just used a simple digital camcorder to shoot this video, but the effects are spot on! Especially the cheesy gunfire in the classic Face-Off shootout.

Wahlberg gets the last laugh
After threatening to hit “Samberg in the nose”, Mark Wahlberg made an appearance on SNL this past Saturday.
And if you ask me, his sketch was 10x better than the cold open with Sarah Palin or the Amy doing the Palin Rap. But you what the funniest thing is about this Wahlberg vs. Samberg business? Max Payne defied all expectations and was the number one movie at the box office! It made $18 million bucks! I think Wahlberg’s laughing all the way to the bank about the whole situation now. Who knew an off the wall SNL skit could actually boost the ticket sales on what I’ve heard is a nother mediocre movie based on a video game?
