Digital Camcorder Redux

Low end theory

I can’t believer there are so many affordable camcorders on the market. If you compare camcorder prices, you could find one for as low as $150 bucks! I know most of these low priced products might not be very good. There are a few suspicious brands that I’ve never heard of. That’s the same with all electronics (like Craig cd players or Tru-Tech dvd players). The seemingly stand-up brands still have camera for as low as $215, like JVC and Panasonic.

I continue to see the Canon Elura 100 camcorder everywhere! Canon is definitely a reputable manufacturer. And this model goes at $339-460 if you shop online. It’s more in the mid-ranged priced camcorders. It has a decent lcd screen and a 20x optical zoom. So the buyer is getting a lot of quality for a reasonably low price. The Elura & ZR series are the more affordably priced product lines made by Canon. It’s like for amateur users who still want some sort of high tech capabilities.

The type of model you buy, really depends on what kind of user you want to be. It’s like you gotta find your camcorder niche (and price range). And then go from there.

And in there lies the problem. Do I want to just buy a pretty good camcorder or a really good, possibly professional one? I’m still on the fence. Thank god the internet has tons of information for me to use!
