Easy as Pie
Considering how intertwined the internet is with camcorders, I’ve wondered how easy it is to upload video clips. Most people don’t use expensive editing software such as Avid Xpress or Final Cut when they are making these viral videos. The really good ones do though like the SNL digital shorts. And some films make YouTube or Myspace exclusive content specifically for the internet.
After visiting a few FAQ sections, the various video community sites do make it sound very easy. And I’m sure if most people can use a digital camera, then I’m sure uploading videos is a snap. It mostly depends on what format or file type your video was encoded or basically created as (i.e mpeg4, .divx). Different encoding types create different sized files. And most free hosting sites have an upload limit.
The trick is just how to save your video files on your computer in a mostly compatible format. Google Video has their own uploader program. And there are other various shareware programs that assist the ordinary user in compressing/encoding their video clip into another format. Roxio has a product called Videowave for only 49.99 that provides easy, superficial editing capabilities.
In the short, you can take a Sony DCR-SR100 Camcorder, which is very inexpensive, and plug it directly into your computer. Then, you use some sort of burning or multimedia software to create a video file. If needed, you can compress the video format into MPEG or AVI. Then, just follow the simple instructions on YouTube to post your video!
It sounds actually sort of easy. But if it does takes forever, you can use your sony camcorder power cord to save on battery life.
