Digital Camcorder Redux

GPS Horror

I stumbled across a trailer for this cheesy movie called, GPS. It looks like a parody of all the gps treasure hunts. The website for the film claims that “there are over a quarter-million treasures that have been hidden” in real life. The director, Eric Colley, capitalized on this fevor to make a kitschy, indie-budget thriller.

Here’s the basic plot. Five college students try to compete in a gps treasure hunt for a chance to win 2 million bucks. Instead of money, they find a mysterious coffin with disturbing polaroids inside. Should they go on with the contest? Can they take the pictures seriously? Or is it all a prank? Kinda reminds me of the plot of the Blair Witch Project, bunch a kids stuck in the woods with something chasing them that may or may not be real.

They decided to take it to the next level & incorporate a gps game to promote the film. It’s all about interactive marketing, and it’s a good way to hook their target audience. Still, almost anyone can play the games. You just need some sort of gps product to follow the online clues. I’m sure any Nuvi would work for their beginner level games.
