College: PCU for the Gen-Y generation
Until I went to college myself, Jeremy Piven in P.C.U. was my only source of “information” on what campus life would be like. Thus, I expected there to be protest groups everywhere, lots of running away from mobs chasing you, which was resolved when everyone makes peace at the requisite college party (which always has live music provided by George Clinton). What’s with all these college comedies painting “the college visit” as something wild and hilarious? Animal House did the same thing.
This year is no different with the release of College this Friday, August 29. Drake Bell (”Drake & Josh”), Andrew Caldwell, and Kevin Covais are three high school students who have a wild and crazy weekend when they visit the local college campus. Since it’s done by the producers of Waiting (Ryan Reynolds), prepare yourself for some gross out humor, pg-13 style romance, and a few funny one-liners.
Trailer Check:
It looks like a fun ode to frat parties, bad decisions, coming of age and the celebration of youth. Altho, I think it’s very convenient that they run into three pretty girls (one being Camille Mana of Smart People) find time to hang out with them all weekend. But hey, it’s a movie? Not plot point has to be logically, I suppose.
