Celebrity Directors Spread the Anti-Meth Gospel
I been seeing this meth awareness commercial alot these days for MeNotMeth.org, and it turns out that it was directed by Joel Schumacher! I know he isn’t as busy as he used to be, probably ever since the release of Batman and Robin, but I’m glad to see he keeps busy. The spot is a bit melodramatic, as is the website, but I guess you get the point.

And then yesterday, Defamer pointed out that Alejandro González Iñárritu has a slew of commercials for The Meth Project. His spots are focusing on the meth problem in Montana, which I didn’t even know had a problem. Inarritu’s commercials are pretty intense. Even while watching it in a little box on my computer monitor, I was taken aback by the frenetic pacing.
It seems meth abuse is getting a lot of mainstream coverage these days. I pretty sure that Oprah’s even had a few specials about it. But seriously, all these commercials don’t have anything on “Intervention”. That show is the best drug/eating disorder/addiction deterrent I’ve ever seen!
Here are two clips from the show to give you an idea:
Leslie, a housewife whose life is being destroyed by her alcohol addiction
Christy, a young girl addicted to meth and alcohol
(beware it’s very intense but mostly SFW due to blurs and beeps)
