DVD Release of the Week: Batman - Gotham Knight

My dvd pick for this week is Batman: Gotham Knight, the animated movie that connects the dots between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. It’s sorta like what they did with the Animatrix, where different anime directors collaborate. David Goyer, one of the TDK screenwriters, also worked with various writers.

Batman - Gotham Knight

There is a no frills single disc and a 2-disc version, which contains extras about “Batman: The Animated Series”. I’m a big fan of the cartoon, so I’m definitely gonna go for the special edition.

Not like we need more hype, but I really do think these anime setup movies are a really cool idea. I know there are graphic novels and comics that I can look to for extra info. But I’m lazy and prefer to have everything summed up in a nice cartoon movie bow.

The Sweetest Robot: Wall-E

As most of the world knows (unless you’ve been living under a rock), Pixar’s latest bid at world box office domination is Wall-E.

I’ve never been a giant Pixar fan, but it’s hard not to succumb to their smart and charming movies. I didn’t bend over backwards to see Ratatouille, but once I did, I realized that these guys really know this animation thing. Basically by now, all they have to do is say it’s a Pixar film to get the audience.

Still, they do love feeding the fans a few extras. Find a cool Wall-E featurette on /Film.

I predict that the Pixar fans are gonna place Wall-E at the top spot, since Wanted is rated R. Plus, the family film always wins in the summer since kids are out school.
