He’s a RocknRolla
I think Guy Ritchie may have found his mojo again with RocknRolla. He wisely has re-embraced the British ganster film genre (that Revolver fiasco so doesn’t count!), which he so deftly portrayed in Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. The ensemble cast this time around has Tom Wilkinson as the big boss, Jeremy Piven and Ludacris as some amateurs, Thandie Newton as the cold-hearted fence, and Gerard Butler as a boxer caught in the middle.
Trailer Check:
And turns out today, that the film has an awesome opening sequence created by Danny Yount. Apparently, Yount is the mastermind behind several title sequences I enjoy, including the sequence for “Six Feet Under”.
RocknRolla opens in NY/LA/London on October 8th and worldwide on October 31st.

Entourage: The Ultimate Buddy Series

It took me a long time to get into “Entourage.” I came to the party about four years late. I didn’t think I’d be much interested in an inside Hollywood comedy. But like 1992’s “The Player,” once I began to watch I was hooked.
Adrien Grenier is suitably vapid as Vince Chase, destined to be an A-list heartthrob, and functions as a straight man to his comical group of buds. The show stealer, however, is Jeremy Piven as the driven, snarky, but sometimes lovable agent, Ari Gold. Ari’s signature phrase, “Let’s hug it out” has penetrated popular vernacular.
Kevin Dillon, as Vince’s half-brother, Johnny Drama, is an accomplished actor who also has become an exceptionally funny comic actor. All of the boys hail from Queens and watching them navigate the bowels of Hollywood is a hoot.
Tomorrow “Entourage: The Complete Fourth Season” will be out on dvd. I’m ready to hug it out.
