Kevin Smith got his latest flick, Zack and Miri Make a Porno, lowered to an R rating!

I mean the movie is about two platonic friends in debt trying to film an amateur adult film to make some quick cash. I’m sure there is a bit of nudity that the MPAA had some concerns about. But Smith must have some major persuasive skills to get them to back down from an NC-17. And it turns out this was the third time he’s gotten his way! Man must have skillz.

“It was the third time Smith successfully talked his way down to a lower rating: His 1994 debut “Clerks” initially received an NC-17 rating that was reduced to an R on appeal, while his 2003 film “Jersey Girl” was reduced to PG-13 after first being rated R.

Smith said the title alone should be enough to caution audiences about the contents.

“Anybody not inclined to see a movie with `Porno’ in the title is not going to see it, so it kind of regulates itself to a degree,” Smith said. “And anybody who is going is not going to be surprised by what they see.”"

Zack and Miri Make a Porno, which stars Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks, hits theaters on October 31st.

The Pineapple Express looks like it will be another win for the Judd Apatow comedy gang. I know his last few movies that he produced were a bit flat, but I think this one will be hilarious. Pop Candy said it was the best movie she saw last week, so that’s pretty much washed away all my worries.

Plus, I loved both “Freaks and Geeks” & “Undeclared”, so it’s just really awesome that the show’s veterans (Seth Rogen and James Franco) are on screen together again.
