Death Race 2008
The new Death Race definitely has an asinine premise much like the original Death Race 2000 with Sylvester Stallone. Nevertheless, I’ll watch it because I’ll pay money to see Jason Statham “act”, run, kick, and jump in just about anything.
It looks like a cross between The Running Man (the run for your freedom or die trying bit), Escape from Alcatraz (the prison bit), and 2 Fast 2 Furious (The Tyrese and car racing bit)!
Trailer Check:
Besides having Jason on point, the filmmakers throw in a little evil Joan Allen, Tyrese, non-descript hot girl, and Ian McShane (HBO’s “Deadwood”). I predict that by the end of the film, Joan Allen’s character will have her plans foiled when the wrongfully imprisoned Jason Statham character wins the “race”. The rest of Death Race will be filled with nonsensical action sequences and bad one-liners. Hopefully, it’ll at least be as entertaining as Transporter 2. I’m not really asking for much.

The Brits called him Rambow
Son of Rambow tells the story of two boys growing up in eighties London who idolize Rambo. They are so inspired by Stallone’s character that they decide to film their own little homage called ‘Son of Rambow’.
During the trailer, I kept wondering how two kids that young managed to get a vhs camcorder to play with back in the day. Seriously, didn’t they cost like over $1000 bucks back then? Since the story looks cute, I guess I’ll just overlook that small detail.
Thanks to Pajiba for brightening my day with this trailer.
