Spy Redux

It seems all sorts of remakes are being written everyday. I have a list of movies that I think would be horrible, yet hilarious to remake in modern times.

What about that comedy, Spies Like Us, with Chevy Chase and Dan Aykroyd. I think it would be relevant to the current events since they get lost in Pakistan & Afghanistan. Instead, they could become actual spies who have useful gadgets like a fancy nuvi 660 and guns to help them out.

In the original, they’re just a bunch of idiots who discover on accident that they are decoys to start WWIII. They bungle up the plans of this Pentagon offshoot and everyone lives happily ever after. A writer could go the black comedy route or straight political satire. It actually could turn out to be good, probably not a box office hit though.
